INDICATIONS FOR USE
VISCOSTIL is a product for ophthalmic use for dogs, cats, non-DPA horses and rabbits consisting of a sterile colloidal 2% hydroxypropylmethylcellulose solution, to be applied in the ophthalmic field for diagnostic purposes or as an ocular lubricant in eye procedures. VISCOSTIL is characterised by the following chemical-physical properties: perfectly transparent, soluble in water in all proportions, stable at pH values between 2 and 13, does not form insoluble precipitates with metallic salts nor with any organic residues that may be present.
The hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose content results in a viscosity of 4,000 cPs (centipoise) at a temperature of 20°C.
Due to these characteristics and the high degree of viscosity VISCOSTIL, placed on the cornea, permits the use of contact glasses for diagnostic purposes. VISCOSTIL can be used to interpose between the gonioscope lens and cornea for angle assessment, between the electrode lens and cornea for electroretinography, between the linear ultrasound probe and cornea in ocular ultrasound. It is also possible, again using VISCOSTIL, to perform the following operations with the laser: iridotomy, iridoplasty, trabeculoplasty, capsulotomy, vitreolysis and retinal photocoagulation.
VISCOSTIL is an ophthalmic product for veterinary use for dogs, cats, non-DPA horses and rabbits. The presence of 2% hydroxypropyl methylcellulose makes it viscous, lubricating and moisturising. Its transparency characteristics make it suitable for use for diagnostic purposes or as an ocular lubricant during eye surgery.
Due to its viscosity characteristics, VISCOSTIL is useful as an ocular lubricant in cases of ciliary and eyelid abnormalities and during sedation or anaesthesia.
- Remove the safety ring by lifting the tab, take off the bottle cap, and hold the bottle between the thumb and index finger of the dominant hand.
- Hold the animal’s head steady by gently restraining the muzzle with the non-dominant hand.
- Position the dominant hand sideways above the animal’s head to slightly pull the upper eyelid with the outer edge of the pinky finger to expose the eye.
- Hold the bottle above the eye and instill the necessary number of drops by gently pressing on the body of the bottle.
- Reward the animal after application.
Purified water, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2%, Sodium chloride, Sodium merthiolate.
- To avoid the formation of air bubbles inside the bottle, it is recommended to store it upside down
- Avoid touching the eye with the tip of the bottle.
- Do not use the product after the expiration date stated on the packaging.
- Allow 10-15 minutes between the application of Viscostil and any additional medication or products for external ophthalmic use.
- Do not use in case of subjective hypersensitivity or known incompatibility to any component of the preparation.
- Use the bottle within 30 days of first opening.
- Close thoroughly after use.
- Keep out of sight and reach of children.
- Keep away from heat sources, store in a dry place at a temperature below 25 °C.
- Do not discard the container in the environment after use.
